![]() There is nothing more disconcerting to an author than a blank sheet of paper. How can such a simple little thing have the power to reduce us to tears of frustration. There must be a way to beat the block! Well, for me, a great way to get the creative juices flowing is to get three random words and create a story around them. Its a great way to kick start your imagination, beating the dreaded block and strengthening your writing ‘muscles’. And it’s a lot of fun! Everyone agrees that if you want your writing to improve you should write every day. Even if it is just for 10 minutes, sit down and write. Don’t put any pressure on yourself, you are not expected to write great fiction every day (or probably never if it's your first draft). Just write. Once you start, you’ll probably work on beyond the 10 minutes, but don’t put any pressure on yourself
Here’s my effort for today. My three words are coincidence, reality and silk. Paul froze, dread and fear grabbing him by the throat, seemingly squeezing the life from him. He carefully turned the silk scarf over in his hands. Surely it was a coincidence? There was no way the scarf could be here. Not here of all places. He brought it to his nose, all connection to reality leaving him as he smelled the unmistakable scent of her. Feel free to leave comments. I think it's probably a bit predictable, very much in my style, but I'd love to hear what you think. Or better still, go on and have a go. You can keep my story going, or write one yourself from the three words. Or if you prefer generate three for yourself - there are plenty of free random word generators available on line. Have fun, I'm excited to see your masterpieces! Have a great day! Audrey

I’ve been a fan of Kate Bush for more years than I care to remember. One of my favourite tracks is “Sat In Your Lap”. One particular lyric has, sadly, always rung true for me.
I want to be a lawyer. I want to be a scholar. But I really can't be bothered. Ooh, just gimme it quick, gimme it, gimme gimme gimme gimme! ![]() Is it really possible to change your life? Of course it is. Richard Bandler asks, “Who is driving your bus?” So who is making the decisions in your life? Think about it, maybe it’s time for you to take charge. I see too many people who are very clear about what they don’t want in their life. They maybe hate their job, or are in a failing relationship that they can’t change or let go of, or any one of a million other things. Maybe they have gotten used to letting other people make decisions for them. Its easier to blame someone else if things don't work out. But often they have no idea of what it is they actually want.

![]() Did you know that the Spanish have two different words for “To be”? Why would you need two separate words to simply say, “I am”? The first word is Ser, which an attribute, while Estar describes a state. So what’s the difference? ![]() Reiki is a method of working with energy that can be used for your own benefit or for the benefit of others. One of my great passions is helping people to achieve success and reach their true potential, after all life is too short to not define and reach your smart goals. But saying is very much easier than doing. I know a lot of people who seem to have tried everything, but are still not able to make the breakthrough. It may be fear of failure or even fear of success, maybe they feel overwhelmed. |
